Sustainable materials from local manufacturers.
Nearly every product that we purchase uses fossil fuel and other natural resources in its manufacturing process. But there are ways to reduce the amount of fossil fuel burned and the amount of natural resources used when a product is needed. For example, steel framing can be manufactured from recyclable steel scrap reducing the need for mining iron ore. And when this steel is purchased, it can be purchased from local suppliers which cuts down on the amount of fuel needed for transport.
Construction Waste Management
The intention of dealing with construction waste is to divert construction and demolition debris from landfills and incinerators, redirect recyclables back to the manufacturing process, and redirect reusable materials to appropriate sites.
Recycled Content
Creating virgin materials requires a greater use of fossil fuels and other natural materials.
When recycled materials are used to create new products, it reduces the amount of virgin materials that must be used, and has less of an impact on the environment.
Regional Materials
By increasing the demand for building materials that are manufactured within the region, this facility supports indigenous resources and reduces the environmental impact from transportation.
